Maidencombe
Sandy/rocky, surrounded by red sandstone cliffs, with access down steep slopes. There's a small pay/display car park. The coastal farm land and woodland around the village of Maidencombe has changed very little over time with the thatched cottages and a pub being a picturesque feature of the village. After a short walk from the car park the path opens up over a delightful little cove, surrounded by red sandstone cliffs. Well within reach of Torquay. Good access to the coastal paths giving excellent views of the rugged coastline. Lots of rock pools at low tide.
Watcombe
Sandy/Cliff with restricted access via a very steep wooded foot path. There's a pay/display car park 5 minutes walk away. The is a beautiful, idyllic spot surrounded by cliffs and wooded hillsides. The steep path that leads down to the beach passes through mature woodland and opens out to reveal a small cove, with spectacular scenery.
Oddicombe
Sandy/shingle/cliff, surrounded by red sandstone cliffs, accessed using a steep foot path or the Babbacombe Cliff Railway. Approx 1/2 mile is car parking. Nestled at the bottom of red sandstone cliffs Oddicombe is a sheltered haven for those looking for a relaxing day out. This attractive stretch of shingle is perfect for simply hiring a deck chair, lying back and enjoying the spectacular views. For a bit more action there is a choice of water sports. A steep walk to the cliff top is well rewarded with magnificent views across the bay. For those who want the breathtaking views without losing breath, there's access to the cliff top via the cliff railway. At the top there is a cafe offering a wide selection of food and drink where you can sit back and enjoy the beautiful backdrop. Blue Flag and Seaside award holder.
Babbacombe
A sandy/shingle/rocky cliff, accessed via a very steep road, winding path or the Babbacombe Cliff Railway. There's limited pay/display car parking. Disabled access is difficult, the road down is very steep but there is a car park at the bottom with a level promenade.
Anstey's Cove
Shingle/rocky, nestled between high cliffs and wooded hillside near to the Palace Hotel. There's a parking just 1/4 mile away. Anstey's Cove is just 2.5 miles from the guest house. A good start point for walks along the South West Coastal Path leading to Hope's Nose with views across the bay. Difficult disabled access down steep slope and steps.
Beacon Cove
Rocky/shingle, with easy access close to the Living Coasts attraction. Pay/display car parking is over 5 minutes walk away. It's just 2.5 miles from our guest house to Beacon Cove beach. Easy disabled access to promenade above.
Meadfoot
Shingle, overlooked by the crescent shape of the Osborne Hotel. There's on-street parking, a pay car park nearby ad it's just 2 miles from Burleigh guest house. Blue Flag and Seaside award holder.
Corbyn Head
Sand/shingle, with parking a quarter mile away and easy access. Rock pools and colourful beach huts here !
Torre Abbey Sands
Sandy, just a short walk from the town centre on the coast road and just a 1 mile downhill walk from our guest house. The grassed area of Torre Abbey Meadow is just across the road.
Hollicombe Beach
For a quiet day on a beautiful beach Hollicombe can not be beaten. Set below high sandstone cliffs this sheltered beach is a real suntrap. At low tide interesting rock pools are exposed at both ends of this fine red sand beach. This delightful little bay provides the perfect setting to get away from the hustle and bustle of Torquay.
Preston Sands
Red sand, adjacent to Paignton sands. Popular with families, there's a long promenade lined with colourful beach huts. Behind the beach is Preston Green a safe area for the children to have fun or play a game of cricket. At the north end, at low tide there are rock pools to explore.
Paignton Sands
Red sandy, situated either side of Paignton Pier. It is backed by an area of parkland which is used for various activities and events during the summer season, and is capable of accommodating large numbers of people. Year upon year the long sandy beach, friendly atmosphere and great choice of facilities at Paignton Sands attracts families looking for a traditional seaside resort. The shallow sea is deal for paddling and with pedalos and boats for hire, hours of fun can be had in the clean, safe waters. European Blue Flag and Seaside award holder.
Goodrington Sands
Mainly sandy with unusual combination of attractive scenery, the Quaywest Water Park and an area of established park land. It is therefore a major attraction in the area, capable of supporting a very large number of visitors. Facilities and amenities are outstanding for all age groups with amusements and the seashore centre. At low tide there are rock pools to explore. During the summer season the local steam train can be seen running along the back of south sands beach.
Broadsands Beach
Mainly sandy, in an idyllic rural setting. It's gently sloping gradient makes it a popular choice for families with children or those wishing to distance themselves from amusement arcades. Resting between rock headlands the area provides a safe sheltered area with parkland at the rear. The long promenade with its colourful huts provides a level walk. Its location also positions it as an ideal starting point for scenic coastal walks. Cafe, restaurant, shops, and toilets including disabled facilities are all available close by. European Blue Flag and Seaside award holder.
Elberry Cove
Single, with beautiful clear water in an idyllic rural setting reached by foot path from Broadsands. Consisting mainly of shingle it is very popular with water ski boats. The romantic ruins of Lord Churston's bath house can be seen adjacent to the beach. There are woodland walks nearby.
Churston Cove

Fishcombe Cove
Shingle, an idyllic spot surrounded by cliffs and wooded hillsides. The steep path that leads down to the beach passes through mature woodland and opens out to reveal a small cove, with spectacular scenery. A picturesque shingle/sandy beach with limited parking and difficult access for disabled. In 1688, William of Orange landed his army here.
Breakwater Beach
Shingle, small, gently shelving and to the right of the harbour breakwater. At the southern end are rock pools and Torbay's open-air swimming pool. It has easy disabled access with adequate parking. There is a good level of amenities, including a beach shop and cafe/restaurant with superb views across the bay. European Blue Flag and Seaside award holder.
Shoalstone
Shinlge/rocky, adjacent to Brixham's outdoor seawater swimming pool. There is easy access to the promenade surrounding the beach and pool, with a cafe and superb views across the bay.
St. Mary's Bay
Sandy, secluded, with interesting rock formations and surrounding cliffs. It is operated by Torbay Coast & Countryside Trust. Access to St Mary's may be difficult but if you persevere you will find a delightful sandy stretch of beach at the bottom of the cliffs. The coastal path above offers panoramic views of the area. A picturesque sandy/shingle beach to the south west of Berry Head. Access down Coligregs Steps is difficult for disabled.
